Meeting Minutes - October 14, 2003

ATTENDANCE:
Tom Dimaggio - Candia, NH
Rhonda Hendry O'hearn - Sandown, NH
Jim Lalla - Bradford, NH
Christine Richardson - Canaan, NH
Bill Bartlett - Newport, NH
Bob Spoerl - Bureau of Trails Representative

OLD BUSINESS:

Treasurer's Report: $701.49 as of 10/13/03

Membership:
71 paid members
How to get members to join snowmobile clubs? Just ask them to.
Rhonda asked if we should make a NHMA donation to the NHSA? NO! A financial donation won't help because the individual clubs need it more and individuals donating money and time do that.

Brochure:
Rhonda presented the brochure she's been working on. It is GREAT!

Snowmobile presentation:
Pete isn't here to present.

NHSA Trail Administrators meeting:
Bob S. mentioned that on DEC 6th at the Mt Washington Hotel there is a NHSA Trail Administrators meeting. These are the big decision makers of the NHSA. We could give a short presentation there if we want to and IF we are ready. Bob S. also mentioned that a dog team demo might be interesting for them as well. We need to get this done ASAP. Tom will get in touch with Pete to see how it's going. Rhonda volunteered to take the finished product to the Stratford Nighthawks and Tom will take it to Roland Bowles to get snowmobiler feedback.

Website:
Bob H. is handling it. Check was sent to Host and it's in the works. Then Jaye will add a dynamic bulletin board and the email list will be ended and transferred to the bulletin board. Jaye is also working on a dynamic sled dog trail condition report.

DESDC trade show and NESDC meeting:
Both were a huge success NESDC offered to donate $50 and make all their members, members of the NHMA for this year. We will graciously accept and after one year the NESDC members can choose for themselves whether or not to be future members.

Patches:
Lots of discussion about prices and materials all which Rhonda had researched. We may have to go with a non-reflective material. Jim Lalla warns that the prices (for us) will probably be $5/patch.

Other options...Good quality Clear mount window sticker! Cheaper, on a vehicle and viewed all year.

Jim's suggestion for our new slogan..."All we really want is a little piece of trail!" :)

Signs:
Tom is having Foss Signs of NY making "Watch for Sled Dogs on Trail" for massabesic mushers grant project. Any extras will be available to mushers to post for free provided they take them down in the spring.

NEW BUSINESS:

Legislation:
New Vermont problem - all snowmobiles ridden in VT this year cannot be insured unless they are garaged there. This MEANS many more out of staters will be riding in NH instead!

Newsletter:
A good idea if it can be sent primarily by email. Include ALL NH mushing events.

Next meeting:
November 19th, 7pm at the Concord DRED building.
